Trexlertown, Pennsylvania
is located just west of Allentown PA, we are sometimes confused
with being part of Allentown, but we are in fact, part of Upper
Macungie Twp..
There are the towns
of Fogelsville, PA to our north, Breinigsville, PA to our west,
Wescosville to our east, & the borough of Macungie to our
south.
Our town lies at
the intersection of routes 100 and 222. If we had a downtown
section, this would be it. Trexlertown is considered to be the
oldest Village in Lehigh County.
Trexlertown was once
part of Macungie Township. Back in 1720, Peter Trexler moved
into the US. He settled in Oley Township in Bucks County, PA.
In 1729 he moved to Macungie Township, and bought 138.25 acres
from Caspar Wistar.
This 138.25 acres
is now the center to west of Trexlertown, PA.
Jeremiah Trexler
(died 1827) is actually considered the founder of Trexlertown.
Macungie Township
split into Upper & Lower Macungie Twp's.
on May 3rd 1832.
The route 222 bridge
This bridge is still
in Trexlertown, it is by Mosser Nursing Home. The bridge is closed,
but you can still stand on it. The stream is kinda trashed up
and no where as pretty as this post card.
Main Street
Main street ( we think ) is now
222, the is by the intersection of 222 and 100. !00 used to be
Kings Highway. With the new bypass it will now become Trexlertown
Road.
Eagle Inn
The Eagle Inn used to be open
up until about 8-years ago. It was closed, and auctioned off.
Demolished and is now an empty lot.
Masonic Hall
This is still on 222, by the
intersection of 100, across from Carlson Pools. The Mason's sold
the building just recently.
1760 House
Picture was taken sometime
in the 1960's.. Although this building has had many fires over
the years, and it has also changed hands many times, it is still
on the southwest corner of routes 100 and 222. It is now called
"The Max Regal" although it now sport ok food and high
prices.
The 1760 house maintains
the longest held liquor license in the state of PA
